Diabetes in Cats treated by Diabetic Cat Care

Fundraising for Diabetic Cat Care

Diabetic Cat Care (DCC) is able to continue operating because of the generosity of our members and supporters. Funds raised cover site fees and expenses, but most important, also provide much needed assistance to owners, some which are in financial straits and cannot afford proper care for their diabetic cats.

Properly treating the disease of Feline Diabetes (FD) isn’t without cost or commitment. Anyone who has cared for a diabetic cat knows from personal experience just how stressful having an FD kitty is – it becomes that much more stressful when there’s no money to pay for necessities; whether those necessities are basic or emergency medical procedures, test strips, insulin, even low carb food.

DCC when able, works closely with Diabetic Cats in Need (DCIN) in the US and Canada, and directly with owners globally to try to provide financial assistance on an as needed basis to keep diabetic cats alive, healthy in their homes, and to help get the medical care they need.

Donations can be made to DCC’s PayPal account simply by clicking on the donate button. Funds raised are targeted towards DCC member cats practicing Dr. Elizabeth Hodgkin’s (DVM) Tight Regulation protocol. When it turns out amounts raised surpass what is needed for an individual cat, the remaining funds are held in DCC’s account; used to help other FD cats and their owners who are in need of assistance.

Another way to help DCC raise funds is to purchase FD supplies through affiliate programs. For example, American Diabetes Wholesale has joined DCC to help in the fight against FD. Purchases made with a direct click-thru to American Diabetes Wholesale (ADW) from the banner posted below; result in a small commission being earned because ADW will donate a percentage of all purchases back to DCC. The amount isn’t huge, but every little bit adds up and the money goes to a very good cause! If you currently need diabetic supplies, please click on the link below and make a purchase which will save you money and help diabetic cats at the same time.

DCC is not a registered charity – our fundraising efforts are no different than a group of parents attempting to raise money to fund musical instruments for the school band.

When it comes to helping Diabetic Cat Care assist FD cats around the world, any amount of generosity is sincerely appreciated.

Current Fundraising Campaigns

Woody – located in the UK

A 10 year old cat was surrendered to the rescue with diabetes and ringworm; because of limited resources, the rescue could not take on long term care to deal with his FD. Woody’s foster mom cannot afford a required dental cleaning, or test strips and insulin. Woody has now had his dental and is on insulin and the hope is he will return to non-diabetic status which will increase his chances of finding a forever home.

MC – located in the US – in need of re-homing

When MC’s owner died, she was taken in by the owner’s son who has serious medical conditions of his own. Last year alone the owner ended up in hospital 7 times, 5 of which were not planned. MC’s current owner requires monthly medications to deal with his own health issues and cannot afford test strips and insulin on an ongoing basis. He is very afraid that if something happens to him, MC’s health will be jeopardized if she does not receive insulin or food for days or a week at a time, so has made the painful decision to put MC first and try to find her a new home. DCC is working with DCIN to try to find MC a new home.
