Diabetic Cat Care (DCC) provides peer-to-peer information sharing on a forum-based platform focused on the proper treatment of diabetes in cats, also known as Feline Diabetes (FD).

Each and every member at DCC has been affected by FD. In an effort to help others hearing the words “your cat has diabetes”, DCC was created to provide a warm and comfortable environment where every-day people can learn how to properly take care of their sick cats and get them on the road to much better health as soon as possible. Each and every person who will help you is a volunteer, giving generously of their time and energy to help you with your diabetic cat as quickly as possible. We ask you to keep in mind; all that matters is getting your cat well. It is important to maintain focus on understanding the disease so you learn how to make the right decisions for your cat.
There are no membership fees, paid employees or profits made at Diabetic Cat Care. DCC is entirely funded by voluntary donations made by members and very small commissions earned through Affiliate partnerships. DCC does not disclose donation particulars. There is no requirement to donate to DCC however, it does cost money to run the site and/or help diabetic cats in need of life-saving medications or treatments.
Every little bit helps to keep the site running and save diabetic cat lives.

Membership Agreement

Members of the Diabetic Cat Care web forum are not veterinarians – we are diabetic cat owners dealing with a complicated feline disease, just like you are. We practice a leading edge treatment protocol called Tight Regulation (TR), researched and developed by Dr. Elizabeth Hodgkins, DVM, Esq. While we refer to Dr. Hodgkin’s expertise and her book frequently, she is not personally associated with this website in any way, and is not responsible for any of its content.

No representations made or advice given by members, contributors, administrators or moderators of Diabetic Cat Care should be in any way considered a diagnosis, treatment or cure for any illness or condition, either discussed or implied. Answers to questions are offered as experiential information only and should always be used in conjunction with advice from your veterinarian. No responsibility is assumed for any conceivable consequence that might be related to any answers that are freely given to questions on this site. Diabetic Cat Care neither endorses nor guarantees the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any such information shared.

Advice given on Diabetic Cat Care is based solely on the personal experience of our members and is not a substitute for veterinary care. We strongly suggest you find a vet you can work with and that you do not start or continue any treatment program without the continued supervision of your cat’s vet. If you disagree with the non-negotiable rules of TR (no feeding of dry or high carb wet food/always testing BG before giving insulin), then this is not the forum for you and we ask that you do not join Diabetic Cat Care.

Privacy

What information do we collect?

When registering on our site, you will be asked to enter your user name, country of origin, how you found DCC and your e-mail address; your IP address will be recorded by DCC’s server. The only personal information to appear on forum will be your User ID and country of origin. Any other personal information is provided at your discretion. We strongly suggest that no personal and/or identifying information is posted on open forum.

What do we use your information for?

From time to time DCC may send out newsletters to our membership or to advise a new member there are posts waiting for them on forum which they might not be aware of, or you may be contacted by email in the event of what might be considered an urgent situation regarding your cat. No email addresses are sold to third party vendors. DCC does make Affiliate Program partners available to members to assist with fundraising to pay for site costs; however, DCC has no control over those websites, products or services.

Do we use cookies?

DCC does use Cookies, which are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive with your permission through your Web browser enabling the site or service providers systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information.

We use cookies to understand and save your preferences for future visits and compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties such as Affiliate partners carefully selected by DCC, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety. While DCC does not share non-personally identifiable visitor information, DCC reserves the right to do so from time to time for marketing, advertising, or other uses. Please note that DCC is very responsible when it comes to our members, in an effort to insure privacy and security is maintained.
